On to Philly and Longwood Gardens

After saying farewell to Marty, and Bruce and Gene (not pictured anywhere) and departing Emmitsburg we proceeded on to Philadelphia (Germantown). Why I took no pictures in Germantown, I have no idea. But, we ventured south to visit Longwood Gardens.

After saying farewell to Marty, and Bruce and Gene (not pictured anywhere) and departing Emmitsburg we proceeded on to Philadelphia (Germantown). Why I took no pictures in Germantown, I have no idea. But, we ventured south to visit Longwood Gardens. Beautiful botanical gardens which were formerly a DuPont home it seems. It also seems that the DuPonts might have been enamored with Versailles what with the water gardens and the dancing fountains and grand topiaries. I found the Conservatory with its green walls (literally green plants to fill the walls in places), orchids and water lilies to be the best part of the visit. And again, as with most of the summer, it was right warm out there!
